Giesen's range of twenty three vineyard locations provide a considerable pallette of flavour profiles to assemble the definitive Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc while allowing winemakers the opportunity to move around the valley harvesting fruit when at its best. Giesen's choice of vineyards contribute to a distinctive style that displays tropically ripe fruit characters as well as the crisper, lively green expressions which are so characteristic of Marlborough.

Low yielding vines grown to a cool climate is what makes Giesen's wines so unique. Complex fruit aromas make them enjoyable whilst young, refreshing acidity gives the wines backbone for long aging in the bottle. Giesen aims for consistency of character and quality from vintage to vintage. Giesen's enthusiastic winemaking team work intensively to identify the harvest window for each parcel, that one or two days when fruit flavours are peaking. Following harvest and pressing, the juices are processed under anaerobic conditions and fermented relatively cool in tank to preserve the fresh vibrant fruit inherent to Sauvignon Blanc. The parcels are assembled and fined, stabilised and filtered before bottling.
